There is nothing better than summer days in Screven County!
This past month, our Chamber President & CEO, Candace LaNasa, had the opportunity to attend the Georgia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (GACCE) Executive Leadership Conference.
This annual conference brings together chamber professionals from across Georgia to build relationships with neighboring chambers and communities, exchange innovative ideas, and learn new strategies that strengthen local organizations. The knowledge and connections gained will help us continue enhancing the programs, events, and resources we provide to our members and the entire Screven County community. We're excited to bring these fresh ideas home as we continue working to make Screven County an even better place to live, work, and do business!
Back-to-school season brought our community together in a big way! Throughout July, Chamber members hosted a variety of events to help families prepare for the 2026–2027 school year. The Town of Hiltonia welcomed families for a community reading day, Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home and Ross Drug hosted back-to-school fundraisers, and Lil Scholar's Learning Center, Inc. helped future students get kindergarten-ready through their Popsicles & Pre-K registration events. Our local schools opened their doors for open houses, welcoming students, parents, and educators back for another exciting year. Thank you to all of our Chamber members who invested in our students and helped make the start of the school year a memorable one!
Sweet treats and local connections made for a great afternoon at our Ice Cream Social & Chamber Bucks 101! Chamber members gathered at Market on Maple to network, enjoy ice cream, and learn about the Chamber Bucks Program-- an exclusive Chamber benefit that encourages residents to shop local and keep dollars circulating within Screven County. Attendees discovered how the program works, how businesses can participate, and how Chamber Bucks make the perfect gift for teachers, employees, birthdays, holidays, and other special occasions, all while supporting our local economy.
Two ribbon cuttings were celebrated this month! Congratulations to Natural Vitality & Wellness and A Helping Rock Thrift Store on their recent grand openings and ribbon cuttings. We are excited to welcome both businesses to our community. Each offers unique products and services that enhance the quality of life in Screven County while contributing to the growth and vitality of our local economy. We look forward to watching both businesses thrive and encourage everyone to stop by, show their support, and see all they have to offer.
