International Overdose Awareness Day | August 31, 2026
The Screven County Chamber of Commerce is proud to support our Chamber member, the Screven County Community Collaborative, as they recognize International Overdose Awareness Day on Monday, August 31.
Every life lost to an overdose represents someone’s child, parent, spouse, sibling, friend, or neighbor. This important day gives our community an opportunity to remember those we have lost, support those in recovery, and show compassion to the families whose lives have been impacted by substance use disorder.
💜 We encourage our Chamber members, local businesses, schools, churches, organizations, and community members to join us in wearing purple and helping us Paint Screven County Purple!
Through education, prevention, recovery support, and open conversations, we can help reduce stigma, connect individuals and families with resources, and work together to prevent overdose deaths.
We are grateful for the work of the Screven County Community Collaborative and their commitment to creating a healthier, more informed, and more compassionate Screven County.

2nd Annual Golf Tournament: SCHS Baseball
SCHS Baseball Golf Tournament returns on August 15!
Support the SCHS Baseball Team while enjoying a day on the course at the 2nd Annual Golf Tournament!
The tournament will take place on Saturday, August 15, at Briar Creek Country Club and will feature a 3-man scramble with a team entry fee of $240.
Whether you're a seasoned golfer or just looking for a fun day with friends, this event is a great way to give back to our local student-athletes.
Registration must be completed at Briar Creek Country Club by Thursday, August 13.

Screven County Rec Dept Pool Opens
Summer is almost here, and Screven County Recreation Department is ready to make a splash! ☀️🏊♂️💦
The community pool officially opens for the summer season on Tuesday, May 26! Pool hours will be Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and admission is just $2 per person per day, making it the perfect affordable way to cool off and enjoy summer fun with family and friends.
Youth swim lessons will also be offered June 1–11 at 10 AM and 11 AM. The two-week session is $30 per child, and classes are already filling up quickly!
Parents can register now at screvenrec.com or stop by the recreation office to sign up.

Hometown Days @ Possum Eddy's
This Memorial Day Weekend, Chamber Champion Possum Eddy Ace Hardware is inviting the community to celebrate hometown pride, honor local veterans, and enjoy a fun-filled family event during their “Hometown Days” celebration on Saturday, May 23rd!
From 9 AM to 2 PM, children can create special art projects and thank-you cards for veterans in our community. Every child who participates will receive fun prizes from the Patriotic Prize Bucket, and families can also enjoy a coloring contest and other activities throughout the day.
Shoppers can take advantage of great Memorial Day Weekend deals on favorite brands including Craftsman, DeWalt, Milwaukee, Yeti, Scotts, Ego, and more, plus enjoy free popcorn while browsing!
